I found 2 of these cards tonight. I assumed they were reprints because of how they looked, but looking at others online I think they may be legit? It seems like they just held up amazingly well. How is it that this series of cards look so new at 130+ years old? The Hanlan appears to have been stored in the crease of something for a long time but even so the cardstock is thick and uncracked. Clearly meant to stand the test of time.

Look good to me. If they were stored well, 1880s lithography can remain fresh and bright.

They are great looking cards, and yours indeed look real. Congrats on picking them up!

I am by no means an expert on these, but isn’t the printing on the backs of the N28s supposed to be blue? The back printing in the scans appears to be black. Just curious. Thanks.

I don't know if those cards are real, but the printing on the back of the N28's is black. Here's an example.

I have one of these, and the back print is blue. But over the years, I have seen them both in blue and in black. I am just guessing that they came either way.
