How The Game has changed Trivia:
Dale Mitchell, more famous for being the final out of Don Larsen's WS Perfect Game, was the last player to have as many as 23 triples in a season (1949)...
...until this man matched that total. FYI- Mitchell had only 41 career triples, but 23 that one season! . |

This is a good question for sure. Always found triples to be an exciting aspect of the game. I'm really scratching my head with this one. I want to say it could be someone like Gary Templeton who I know lead the league in triples a few times. Or maybe Lance Johnson, who had some great seasons in the 90's. Definitely would need to be a bit of a speed demon, gap hitter. |
I looked it up...great question. I would've needed many guesses to get it!

Curtis Granderson? I remember he had a 20-20-20 season with triples.

You Got it! The Grandy-Man had 23 in 2007. He's truly a fine gentleman off the field as well. He may be the only player, certainly the only post-WW2 player who had a 20-triple season and another season with at least 40 homers. Stan the Man, as we all know, topped out at 39 homers. One-Dog had 21 his best year. George Brett is the most recent HOFer to do it...and that was also a 20-20-20 season. . . |
