New eBay scam- treasure hunting?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/195274079462

This takes the cake for the most unique scam I think I’ve ever seen.

LOL Wow

And speaking of 'buried'...look at his Bowman Trout auction. You can't even see much of the card.

I hope him and his brother-in-law are having fun running up the phony bids.

Saw this on FB. Two zeroes are fighting it out. Zero to $13,400.00 in two days.

It has been removed already

Anyone have a screenshot of the listing...or can you explain what was happening to those of us who missed it?

Like I've always said, never trust anyone who doesn't know the number of a Pete Rose rookie card. (And I won't even mention the Mantle 'rookie' claim.)

What this scam lacks in sophistication, it makes up for with cartoonish stupidity.

The "medal" detector is priceless :) Wow.

JollyElm 08-10-2022 06:16 PM

I got it!!!! The coordinates lead to Oak Island!!!! The Lagina brothers are looking to get even more people digging for them...and profiting from it.

Is geo-caching still a thing in 2022?

BobbyStrawberry 08-11-2022 09:29 AM

How in the world did this have any bids?

luciobar1980 08-11-2022 09:43 AM

hahaha oh man, this one is actually good entertainment.

"This will be a hike into the woods for fortune."

Actually LOLing....

I wasn't aware that shipping the GPS coordinates costs $8.22.

You learn something every day.;)

I guess I need to start looking for the ultra rare 1963 Topps Pete Rose #357 to complete my master set. All I currently have is the #357 George Altman. :D

Seller sold 2009 Bowman Mike Trout in a group of cards today for $1,275.

Already got negative feedback saying fake cards.

I hear you also discover the dead body of Jimmy Hoffa, along with the lost city of Atlantis.

And the ransom paid to D.B. Cooper!

Bogus as all get out, but a legit version of this idea (not an auction) that involved riddles for people to figure out the location of buried vintage treasure boxes (and not necessarily ultra-expensive cards) would, I think, capture the imagination and time of some of us. Here is a link to something in this line that was created in the 1980's that could serve as a framework for a potential baseball card treasure hunt:

A variation of this that might almost be legal would be an offering of the coordinates where Cy Berger himself put thousands of 1952 Topps Mantles.

Of course, those coordinates would be a few miles off the coast in the Atlantic Ocean.

I'm always a bit frightened when I'm asked to do anything that involves a "hike into the woods" ...
