Here's one:
What career statistical total (pitching, not a trick question) of Sandy Koufax did Don Drysdale meet or exceed in two individual seasons? |

meant to post this in sports talk if you want to move it. Sorry.

Given the number of hitter Drysdale plunked I'm gonna guess one of the two is Hit Batsmen.
|
Koufax hit 18 batters in his career. Drysdale plunked 18 or more twice, and he was an All-Star both of those seasons.
|
It was indeed hit batsmen.
As a corollary to the trivia. It is often said that Drysdale and Gibson were the two most intimidating pitchers of their era because they weren't afraid to hit you. Drysdale only walked 2.2 batters per 9 innings which is pretty impeccable control. HE hit a batter every 23 innings or so. Gibson walked 3.1 per 9, which isn't terrible but certainly is considerably less accurate than Drysdale. He hit a batter roughly every 38 innings. Based on those stats Drysdale was plunking guys intentionally quite a bit more often than Gibby! |
