Wtb: Snapshots/cards of these Musicians.

Carrying on my love of baseball snaps I would love to get a few snaps or cards of my favorite musicians/bands.

Please no super far away shots where nothing can be made out.
Will list some to give an idea of who I’m looking for. On or off stage is fine.

#1 by far my most wanted Is a card/snap of Ritchie Valens. I think his impact was tremendous on music, and it was only for 8 months.

Lynyrd Skynyrd
Allman Brothers
Ccr
Hendrix
Van morrison
Gordon Lightfoot
James Taylor
Jim Croce
Johnny cash
John Denver
Simon and Garfunkel
Neil young

Too many more to name. If you have any that are sorta like these names please pm me!

Please no modern or fantasy cards unless they're memorabilia related.

I don't have anybody on your list, but I do have slides from an old Faces concert of Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood, and photos and slides of the first McCartney Wings Over America concert. LMK if you have any interest.

Is there any proof cards even exist for any of these artists from back in the day?
I'd also like some, especially of Lynyrd Skynyrd, but I don't know if any were even produced back in the day?

Yes, most popular bands/musicians did get cards. Though it could've been years after they became popular before a card was made.

And the majority of cards for this era are South American/European, and many are still being found today.

Ryan from Breakout cards is creating a reference/repository/book? I'm not quite sure what. But it's going to specialize only in non sports and music cards. This is a pretty big deal because that doesn't really exist right now.

My god what a tease!
Great cards Peter, I hope I can find some of them one day. But seems I'm not very good at it.

Some are easy some are very obscure. Hendrix and Johnny Cash should be very easy especially if you don't need, like I do, first cards. BTW no contemporaneous cards of Croce.

I have had invaluable help with music cards, and movie cards. Feel free to ask if you need any.

Peter - Any contemporary Harry Chapins out there?

I don't recall ever seeing one before.

No period cards of the Grateful Dead either. Oddly given their popularity and the number of issues during that time.

Love, love, love the topic. Wow, beautiful cards Peter! Also not selling but always like to share these (even if they aren't exactly the artists you're looking for). The last one was just purchased this week and not in my hands yet.

From the late 70's through the early 80's I took my camera to quite a few shows. I've got a couple of photo albums somewhere with this material. All snapshots.
Unfortunately I put them in photo albums that had that gummy substance on the cardboard page that the clear cellophane/plastic laid over.
The books are quite old now so perhaps those photos would come out pretty easy because the gummy substance has probably mostly dried up.

From memory I took photos at concerts including:

Jethro Tull (Pretty far back)
Bruce Springsteen (Pretty far back)
Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes (multiple shows)
Heart
Hall & Oates
The Who (distinctly remember this as 4th row at Madison Square Garden)
Blondie
Rockpile (Nick Lowe & Dave Edmunds)
There may have been one or two more batches.

I've got ticket stubs from many more included on this list.
Need to dig out these albums.

That's a great and rare Janis. I don't have that one but do have these.

steve5838 01-09-2023 01:46 PM

Wow, those are beautiful Janis cards. I've been hunting for one for some time. The one I purchased looks pretty beat up but I'm incredibly happy to add it to my collection. On an entirely off note, watching the Laurel Canyon documentary (can't recommend highly enough) reignited my hunt for Doors, Byrds, Mamas & Papas, CSN,... Do you know if Buffalo Springfield ever had a card?

Not that I know of, but there are so many issues out there. Just singles of Young and Stills.
