PSA National

Info released this week on PSA at the National for those who care. I haven't waded through the details, as I have no interest right now in getting anything graded. Even some same day service, but looks like you will pay royally for it.

500 to reholder a card....even an expensive one sounds like a nice gig.

$100 same day is a great deal IMO. I’ll be taking advantage just like last year.

Coworker of mine submitted his PSA 4 1956 Topps Mantle (which is gorgeous) to get regraded thinking he would get better and got a PSA A. Needless to say he is drinking a few bourbons.

I told him since he is not selling just enjoy the card for what it is who cares what the slab says.

Sometimes, Jamie, you just gotta leave it alone, right ?

Just out of curiosity, did they refund him the difference in value due to the improper grade the first time?

Zero chance that the collector in him takes, or even has the ability to take, your advice. This would also bother me. I collect cards, and not slabs, but turning a numerical grade into a scarlet A is frustrating.

About 8 or 9 years ago PSA reholdered a 52 Topps Mantle PSA5 for me for the grand total of $5. True story. I can't believe that it is now 100 times higher to reholder a card. I would guess that the same Mantle would cost more that 500 bucks now.

I think they refunded him everything. I suspect that came after a short conversation showing him the original slab and pics. I am pretty sure they said it was due to a screw down from back in the day which I guess they did not pick up on originally.

He was with his 6 year old son, so maybe they did not want him to go away even more bummed being out $500 and a extremely diminished value.

He said the associate from PSA was very reasonable and nice about it.

OUCH the infamous N9 altered stock. .... There was a time when all my best cards I took to a show where kept in screw down cases for the most part I was careful not to tighten the screws. But obviously I know what an N9 is so I was not as good at it as I thought...

The last time the National was in AC 2016 , the cost if grading on site was $15. If you joined PSA you got vouchers for 6 free in site ir 15 send un grades. So yes prices are up. Lowest price this year was $200.00. I was in line Wed and guy in front of me was grading a 52 Mantle and getting a re-grade of his Yoo Hoo Mantle. My card were ready by 5pm on Friday for pickup. I also sent in a couple hundred cards under the $18 and $30 July specials. They quoted a 90 and 150 day turnaround. I will update this thread when my cards arrive.
