Topps rookie trophy HOF list?

I’m thinking I might create a subset collection within my Hall of Fame set

I’m wondering if anyone has created a list of all of the players who have been issued cards with the Topps rookie trophy that ended up in the Hall of Fame.

I believe there may be some players with more than one card like this.

If anybody has access to this list or knows of an earlier thread with this info, I would really appreciate a connection to that list

I’m thinking that would make an awesome display… am thinking all
Raw, to keep cost down and also keeps the look a bit more pure!

(And by the way, if anyone has actually completed this and has an image of their collection, please do share!)

Thx!

Jeff

One more came to mind

1997 Jeter - I believe the only horizontal

I also do not believe and player has more than one.

Future possibilities;

1964 Rose
1965 Allen
1998 Rolen
1998 Andrew Jones
2005 Mauer
1995 Manny
1999 Helton

Also several current players on track or close for HOF.

1960 McCovey

Jeff,

I also collect these, and am almost done. Here are a few observations.

Overall, it is pretty affordable. Rose and McCovey are the most expensive. Murray, Ozzie Smith, Bobby Cox, Seaver, Ripken, Bench and Carew will set you back a bit. There are some high numbers from 61 - 72 that may set you back $5 - $10 or more depending on your condition requirements.

If you are planning to collection the newer sets the cards from 1979 to 1986 do not have the rookie cups, even though there were Topps Rookie All Star teams for those years. They are contained in the list Peter provided. There are some cards like Rick Monday (1968), Jesse Gonder (1964), and a few more that do not have the cups.

There are multiple sets around 2010 and forward where there are multiple choices to get a card of a player with the cup if cost is a consideration.

There are a couple of sets you can use to fill in the blanks for players missing the rookie cups on their cards. They include, but are not limited to: 2005 Topps Rookie Cup, 2014 Topps All Rookie Cup, 2016 Topps Chicago Cubs, and 2021 Topps All-Star Rookie Cup

Here is the 2022 list that I believe is missing from the TCDB list. This is from my lists. It contains the players, but is not an exhaustive list of the options.

2022 Topps
24 Trevor Rogers ASR
175 Tyler Stephenson ASR
190 Emmanuel Clase ASR
196 Randy Arozarena ASR
271 Patrick Wisdom ASR

2022 Topps Opening Day
26 Ryan Mountcastle ASR
40 Jonathan India ASR
118 Luis Garcia ASR
135 Adolis Garcia ASR
197 Dylan Carlson ASR
208 Wander Franco ASR, RC

Erik

Outstanding - thx for the great advice… actually, the only ones I’d like to collect/display are the HOFers (save $$ on the Rose)

Might not be quite as large and challenging as I first thought

Thx again, Erik

Jeff

There are two missing from this list. 1979 Ozzie Smith and Paul Molitor are both Topps All Star Rookies, but Topps omitted the trophies on both cards, like they did with lesser guys through the years (1975 D'Acquisto comes to mind).

Topps held their Rookie Banquet programs from 59 to at least 66 ( I have those programs) I think they held one in 67 but have not seen it. Have not seen any programs from 67 to 76 but by 77 they had renamed the event the Topps Achievement Awards and the 77 program is numbered consecutive from 59.

I have the Achievement Award programs from 77 to 2004 ( missing a few). Have not seen anything since then. The 59 and 60 packs had paper inserts that allowed you to “vote” for your favorite rookie. The 59 program lists other groups from which Topps solicited votes, including the Boy Scouts
