22 or so years ago, my family moved from NYC to Montclair, NJ. My oldest son (then in elementary school) became friends with a nice young kid who lived directly across the street from Larry Doby and his family. A modest suburban home. At the time I was like "gee, isn't that interesting. . ." Now I kick myself in the ass fairly regularly for now dropping a note in the mailbox asking if I could speak with Larry for a few minutes. I assume Larry Doby, Jr. still lives in that home. I've met him a few times and he is a good guy.
Kind of criminal how little acclaim Doby received over the years.
Yogi and Doby living in the same suburban town. Not bad.
