1947-57 World Series Ticket Run Value

WS tickets are not my specialty.

Any ideas of the value of a complete run from 1947-1957 minus only the 1952 Game 6 and Game 7 stubs in average condition?

Thanks

I'm building a WS Ticket run from 1930 - 1980. I'm only targeting 1 ticket from each WS, rather than every WS game. So this is based on my buying experience over the past couple of years.

In my experience (you're mileage may vary):
  • Memorable/Historic WS games will always attract a premium. (e.g. Jackie Robinson's 1st WS game, May's "the catch", Don Larson's Perfect Game, Mazeroski's homer in 1960, etc). You could pay $500 - $2,000 some of those tickets.
  • Series that feature certain teams also tend to do better (e.g. Yankees, Dodgers)
  • Graded tickets attract a premium (but not always as much as you think)
  • As you'd expect, older tickets are more expensive than recent tickets. That doesn't stop some people on eBay trying to sell a 1977 WS ticket for $500 <Geesh>

As a general rule of thumb: tickets for average WS games in the 50's can be had for $75-$125 in mid-grade condition if you're patient. Tickets from the average games in the 40s are a little more expensive.

There are 66 WS games in that period, less the two missing tickets from the 52 WS, means you're talking about 64 tickets. I haven't counted the number of significant games in that run.

Assuming all the tickets are raw and stubs (e.g. not full unused tickets) a base value might be between $10-15K. I'm sure others will be able to chime in with better info. I'm less sure if there's be a premium or a discount attracted to selling a full run.

Do you have one or trying to build one?
I have 464 WS tickets and can only say that prices in the past 2 years have risen and are also quite manipulated. I would have to do a lot of calculation to figure out numbers but it will not be cheap right now!

Possibly buying one.

Any other opinions on value of this run?
