1933 & 1934 Goudey Attic Find
The grandchildren of a former Goudey employee opened a safe in his attic and found 150+ cards from 1933 and 1934, including two 1933 Ruths, a 1933 Gehrig, 2 1934 Gehrig, and TWO of the 1933 Lajoie.
Video of the cards after being prepped for grading by SGC can be found here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CdOnwG-JVxK/ More on the story here: https://blog.justcollect.com/1930s-g...employee-found |

What a cool find. I'd be happy to find just one Lajoie in an attic. Hell, I'd be happy to find a T42 common in my attic...

Casual observer- and my wife & I agree those are unbelievable !!

If I was ever to find something in an attic that old, it would be a rock.
Very sweet looking cards. |
I plan on hiding some 1991 Topps in our attic. Not quite the same
|
Amazing news and find and wow on the condition.
Guess they hit the collectors lottery |
Love any finds nowadays!
|
Let's be serious... where is the video when they open up that safe? Don't tell me no one has access to a phone to record this given there are thousands of videos out there opening up old safes.
So.. the employee was able to keep two Lajoie that were supposed to be by redemption only. That pretty much confirm how many logoman 1/1 employees can have for their collections nowaday. |
Why SGC? Check out last night's Memory Lane PSA Goudey prices.

In fact, it was a mistake those cards got into Heritage's hand to begin with. If they were in Goldin's hand they would get better grades from PSA. |

So were these cards taken or stolen by the employee and now his relatives are reaping the benefits of this deed. I didn't know employees of Goudey could take home card # 106 Lajoie etc. Wonder what his position was in the company ?

Mike high results
Wow many of those MEMORY LANE results from last night are eye popping!
|
Yes, it's possible an employee took a few penny cards home that he was not supposed to 88 years ago.

Right...just knowing that one day his descendants would make out like bandits in the sports card surge during the next global pandemic of 2020-2022. Thief!!!! ;) Bill |

I know someone who opened up 32 Upper Deck Hockey cases and he couldn't even pull a single Brett Hull autographed insert and it was numbered to 2500 back then. Definitely some of those employees have an upper hand! Let's get back to the discussion of those logoman and 1/1 inserts. LOL :p |
