Harvard Univ. Base Ball Club
5 Attachment(s)
We've had these pieces for quite some time but I don't believe I've ever posted them. I just got to thinking that maybe I should in the event that others have Harvard Univ. BBC items to share, particularly if they come from the 19th Century.
This item here is a very interesting beer stein (.5 liter) with some wonderfully painted graphics of a ball player. The style and dress of the player would lead me to believe its circa 1880s. We've also got a very cool trophy cup that I'm gonna post here in a moment. So, any and all H.U.B.B.C. would be cool to see. Thanks, Jonathan www.dugouttreasures.com |

Here is that cup...
It was awarded to the Harvard Univ. Base Ball Club (HUBBC)...Fifth Prize...for Excellence In Batting in 1895. I think I'm going to try and research it a bit see if I can nail down the event or competition it was associated with. |
Congrats

Really nice things, hope to see more.
I have somehow accumulated a number of early Harvard photos along with an assortment of 1870’s letters about Harvard baseball. Here are a few of the photos. The earliest is the 1867 team with the silver ball they won by beating the famous Lowell team and some trophy bats. I will post more team images later, but will add 2 individual cabinets of Ernst and Thayer, likely 1877-78, taken by Pach. |
Hi Jonathan, love the beer stein, thanks for sharing.
