Morgan Bulkeley Hall of Famer signed document
2 Attachment(s)
This is a Sons of the Revolution in the State of Connecticut membership certificate signed by Morgan Bulkeley (1837-1922). He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1937. He formed the Hartford Dark Blues of the National Association of Professional Baseball Players in 1874. The next year they featured HOFer Candy Cummings. In 1876 the league was replaced by the National League and with Hartford as a charter member he was named president of the league. He served for one year (Thank you wikipedia).
The certificate measured 11 x 13 and is printed on a stiff, but brittle type of paper. There is some chipping along the edges and a small piece missing from the lower right corner (about 1/8th inch along sides). I have noted a couple of tears. I repaired the one on the right side with archival document repair tape (like tissue paper) and reinforced the crease in the lower left which was also partially torn. This was signed in 1903. Bulkeley's signature measures 5 inches long. The recipient of the certificate, Rev. Alexander Hamilton, was the great-grandson of Alexander Hamilton, the man on the $10 bill. His name is listed on the certificate as Brevet Col. Alexander Hamilton. $925.00 All normal forms of payment accepted - check, money order, paypal. I will cover the shipping and insurance. It already sits in a 12 x 13½ hard plastic sleeve ready to encase in cardboard and ship. Attachment 515510 Attachment 515511 |
