Federal League Cards
IS there a checklist any where that has all the Federal League cards?
Thanks Lee |
Lee, I was able to dig this up on the interwebs but cant imagine that it is complete as there appears to be several teams back in the day.
This one list 33 players <a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/150864751@N07/52055012449/in/album-72157711330478736/" title="Fed-League-"><img src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52055012449_5dbe42f5de_h.jpg" width="927" height="1324" alt="Fed-League-"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |
I don't know of a checklist of specific Federal League baseball cards, but here is a list of sets that have cards with players that have Federal League designations, which I culled from an old N54 thread:
https://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?p=1064274 1914 and 1915 Cracker Jacks T213-2 Coupons T216 Kotton T330-2 Piedmont Art Stamps D303 General Baking E106 W530 Pinkerton Baltimore News Schedule Brian |
Thanks it helps to have at least the sets that could have them in.
Lee |
I know C46 has Walt Justis's only card in it, who pitched for the Blue Sox. Seeing as it's a minor league release they might have some more Federal League players too.
|
Thanks Andrew,
I am just looking for the cards that denote the Federal League team, not the players that played in the Federal League during their career, that would be a much larger collection to try to put together. Looking for a more obtainable goal. Lee |

Heck of a first post, and welcome aboard!
Now THAT is a comprehensive list of Federal League cards. A lot of mystique surrounding that league, not the least of which is Weeghman Park in the Windy City. 1915 CJs: I have Blair, Tinker and Plank. Love 'em, awesome cards! |
Nice list, and welcome aboard first time poster!

Welcome aboard JJ and thanks for the list. Protocol on net54 is that every thread needs a card so post 'em if you got 'em.

-edit- Found a Sports Col Daily article. "30 different players were included in the release but the full set actually contains 54 cards. 24 players were duplicated in order to provide additional game cards with different game play actions." Alright, then. |

A few more updates for your Federal League card listing. In the E106 set Germany Schaefer's card has a Newark Feds designation.
Also in E106, Bender has the Federal League designation on both his striped cap and white cap versions, Chase on both his fielding and portrait cards, and Tinker on both his batting and portrait cards. Brian |

complete set of 1915 cracker jacks. Note: Jimmy Austen and Rube Marquard
are pictured in the set but never played in the Federal League. |
Can you fine tune what it is you want?
There are cards that will have Fed League in the caption but depict a player (who was on a Federal League team) showing him wearing an NL or AL uniform... Are you wanting the caption to say Federal League, no matter the uniform? Or are you after seeing the Federal League uniform, eg the terrapin on the Baltimore jersey??? |
