PSA is absolutely nuts

PSA research dept is basically non-existant and determine what to grade and what not to grade , it appears on the whim of who's deciding...
a couple of for instances...they have determined that they will only grade ny yankee trifolds and no other teams...claiming there is no checklist to validate
even though there is no checklist for the yankees either...
they approved wilson meats that i added to set...and now that i sent one in
theyve changed their mind because theyre not in lemkes book...which only shows 7 cards and i have 17 different. .even though i sent pictures of all 10 extra
there are 16 pros pizza listed in the book but there are 22 different known
theyll holder the 16 but not the other 6
I was actually sent an email that they wont grade meadowgold milk as blue or green because it was too difficult to tell the difference? really
but you can tell the difference on a 2021 card between a 9 and 10
I guess its time to write my own book (1947-1979) to get anything done

Larry- I agree with your sentiment, but I don't think they are crazy. They are
more like "The Beverly Hillbillies"- a group of dimwits who stumbled into a
fortune. Come to think of it, isn't Jethro one of their graders?:)_

You might have to actually do that. Adam Warshaw got them to look more carefully at a lot of boxing issues when he started publishing his book...granted, they still get a ton wrong LOL!

I have what I believe may be a unique 1951 Hartford Chiefs minor league set, that Mr. Lemke got into the 2011 catalog. I never got them graded, although SGC agreed to slab them for me, after getting Lemke's blessing over 10 years ago on them.

Kind of wish I had back then, but glad there's at least a record of them in Lemke's guide, in case I decide to in the future.

Larry—the depth of your knowledge of odd ball, scarce and regional offerings is pretty unique. Not surprising a grading company is way behind you. Maybe you should collaborate with someone like George Vrechek on an SCD or other hobby publication about some of the more unique issues you collect to get more hobby recognition for them

Checklists

These are in the book..but incomplete checklists
They graded 11 Mascot dog foods..even though only 1 in the book
Green and blue meadowgold? In the book...they can't tell the difference,?
Its the inconsistency..thats amazing

Then an article expanding such checklists

Well, I'm hoping they do me right on my Topps Mantles once I decide to send them in.*

*I was quite disappointed with the orders received from SGC...but, I guess I'd rather them be to harsh than too easy.

I figure as long as I go with main-stream, well-known cards and a famous retired player...oh, and they have to be dead (call it the Schilling clause).

My main choices these days are Mickey and Hank - though I'm no longer in
market for big-dollar issues.
