Horner Lajoie Cabinet in REA Type 1 PSA photo
https://bid.robertedwardauctions.com...?itemid=102625
Am I missing something? I thought PSA would not give a type 1 photo designation to anything mounted. Horner Cabinets are ok but others like Falk from the same period aren't? Horner: https://sports.ha.com/itm/baseball-c.../50024-80001.s Horner https://sports.ha.com/itm/baseball-c.../50016-56113.s Falk: https://sports.ha.com/itm/autographs.../50019-53364.s |
That's a head-scratcher for sure. Hope someone here on the board can clarify the apparent double-standard.

It has to have the photographers stamp visible, they will not give "Type 1" to trimmed Horner cabinets either.

Believe Horners are an exception since they are so widely known.

I wish Horners were an exception, we have a vintage Honus Wagner that was peeled off the mount and has a 1913 morgue stamp (when it was filed) on the back and it will not be a candidate for encapsulation. If you see any that are in slabs they are usually VERY old or rare instances where Horner added an embossed dry stamp. I think this will change at some point in the future, but for now, that is the rule from PSA as I understand it.
