Am I missing something? I thought PSA would not give a type 1 photo designation to anything mounted. Horner Cabinets are ok but others like Falk from the same period aren't?

That's a head-scratcher for sure. Hope someone here on the board can clarify the apparent double-standard. :confused:

It has to have the photographers stamp visible, they will not give "Type 1" to trimmed Horner cabinets either.

Believe Horners are an exception since they are so widely known.

Thanks Rhys! I figured you'd know. Although it seems pretty arbitrary to me. I thought the point was that they couldn't properly evaluate mounted photos.

I wish Horners were an exception, we have a vintage Honus Wagner that was peeled off the mount and has a 1913 morgue stamp (when it was filed) on the back and it will not be a candidate for encapsulation. If you see any that are in slabs they are usually VERY old or rare instances where Horner added an embossed dry stamp. I think this will change at some point in the future, but for now, that is the rule from PSA as I understand it.
