1932 Sanella Handbook of Sports in German

Evening,

I have in my possession a 1932 Handbook of Sports from which the Ruth Sanella type 2 card has been removed and graded by BEckett graders grade of 4. All stickers are in great shape and glued in the book with dissolvable glue with edges starting to peal from the book. Trying to figure out market value of the book, cards including Ruth, and all other cards as a package. Not difficult to figure out the Ruth by itself, but the full book and cards in excellent shape is the question. Pretty cool item in my opinion. Thanks for any help

Kmac

I don't think there's a ton of value, aside from Ruth. I sold a set missing Ruth on eBay a few months back - the cards were loose (not glued in the album) and all in nice shape (I would say NM+; the Ruth had been part of this set and graded a 9!).

I got $259 in an eBay auction for the near set. I thought it would've brought more, but apparently not much demand aside from Ruth.

The full book minus the Ruth sell for around $100-$150 unless they are super nice.

Sounds like the difference between your situation and mine is I actually have the book in decent condition and all the cards glued in with water soluble glue. All cards are present and accounted for.

That makes sense Be, and they are very nice. Sending the Ruth in for crossover to SGC as the BVG slab is scratched on the front with no card damage.

I have 3 complete books… got them a few years ago for maybe two to $300 each. I’ve seen complete books for sale recently for six to $800. Ridiculous that a Ruth graded is worth so much more than a complete book in my opinion!! It’s quite a beautiful book to flip through.

If you are ever interested in selling a book, that is a set I've been humming and hawing over for years.

There is currently a complete never mounted card set, including Ruth, running on ebay Germany now, currently €136. I do not consider this outing as I suspect most here do not navigate that site. It is fairly easy to get to if you have Chrome translater.

It is a beautiful book. I bought mine at a card shw a few years back as I wanted an affordable Ruth. The book with cards thrown in was an amazing bonus but I have just stuck it in a drawer. For being 90 years old, an amazing find.

I acquired my Sanella Album (with all the cards pasted in it) 24 years ago for $75. Recently, I have seen it selling for 4 (or more) times that price.

Some months ago I bought a Sanella Ruth (with a small crease) for $250. A day earlier a full book (including Ruth, with no crease, but glued into the book) sold for $400.

I had recently ordered a Sanella book from Germany. It arrived in the mail today. :D

It was pretty easy to remove the cards from the album. I'm now the proud owner of a Type 2 Sanella Ruth.

The album had a lot of the other cards, but not all of them. If I get $40 for those other cards, I'd be very happy.

Kmac - interested if you want to sell! I have a number of other of these books from Germany covering about a dozen topics, alas this is not one of them...
