Help please on another Mantle

Is there any chance that this is an authentic early Mickey Mantle?

Is it scored? If so, who is the visiting team?

The Mantle autograph looks a little off from his early version but depending on the time frame could be authentic IMO.

I lean likely not authentic but it is worth further investigation.

I am familiar with Mantle's early autograph but certainly not an expert on it. I compared this one with a few exemplars I found online and it is certainly not a match but if it was signed in 1949 versus 1951, there could be some variation.

If one of Mantle's early minor league teams played in the Texas League then I would say it has a better chance since he would have likely been in Dallas for a game or two early in his career and might have signed the cover. He would not have been a well known player in that time frame. I do not recognize the other autographs on the cover so they likely never made it to the show.

I will try to do a little more investigation into the teams he played for in 1949/50 versus teams in this league.

Here are 4 authenticated early examples of Mantle's autograph. Not sure why one is upside down but not smart enough to fix it so just look at the other 3 or turn your device upside down to view that one.

That is a beauty!!

I believe the other three signatures are Bob Muncrief, Joe Ostrowski and Billy Johnson.

All were teammates on the 1951 Yankees.

I am going to say yes on this autograph. There is no hesitation in the signature and who would have forged his name at that time?

I now agree with your assessment.
