Removing scotch tape residue from signature on old GPC (Gil Hodges)
1 Attachment(s)
Does anyone have any experience having scotch tape residue removed from a signature on an old GPC (or similar)? I have the attached and it is a great Gil signature but it would of course look even better without the residue. This is a 1954 GPC, postmarked on the other side.
Unless I was virtually 100% sure that the card or signature would not be damaged in any way I would not attempt this on my own. Are conservators able to navigate this and any idea of the cost? Thanks in advance for your thoughts and experiences. |
I would leave as is, not an expert, but see damage happening. Joe

Can't be done. The solvent would dissolve the ink, too.

It has character as is.

no way
Nothing to be done at this point. A true Paper Conservator would cost lots more than the autograph is worth.

Thanks for the responses.
Just wanted to explore if this was reasonably doable. Leaving as is.... Thanks again.... |
