Heritage Auction
There's still time left to get your bids in before extended bidding begins!!!!!
Looking at the top items...crazy to me... a #'d of 99 Doncic card over a million...just insane. Followed by a not so rare lebron rookie for over a half mill. Seems people are tripping over each other to pay large sums of cash for Jordan autographs too! Oh and quality vintage is impressive too! So what did y'all win????? |
Nothing for me this time around. But I'm watching closely. Good luck to those in the mix.

10 on the watch list for educational purposes, had a good month from member transactions which is always preferable.

Cashing
Without revealing any details that you don’t want to share… are there guys in here that have consignment stories from HA?
Are you cashing big checks here? I mean ; every lot seems to be astronomical. It’s very tempting to cash out on some items. But I’m sure that two things would happen: 1.The market would dry up the day mine are posted. 2. I’d regret and miss my cards immediately. |
The items I was watching didn't move much at all in extended bidding. That doesn't happen very often.
|
Got my ass handed to me. When $30,000-$50,000 can’t see you add one card to a collection, shit’s gone bananas. Time to holster it and just keep the money for fun trips and other non-card life pleasures.

I haven't looked at the whole auction, but I'm ok with my one pick up.
|
Congrats DJ, that was well bought IMO.

I did get 2 lots in Heritage--bid on many, but just went so high--got the Babe Dual signed check $8700 (the beckett dual signed went $16,800---also got the Ty Cobb check $3360---The Stahl Meyer mantle went over 200K so needless to say, I didnt win that one.
|
You know prices are high when a PSA 8 Black Swamp Frank Chance is back to selling for 2016 price levels (not my consignment, did not bid).

I just cant fathom some of these prices. Call it sour grapes lol |
Went toe to toe with someone on two items. Ran up in extended bidding and lost both. Slept well.
I really think Heritage now gets prices that are meaningfully higher than what the same item would get at many other AHs. I suspect some of the same vintage at Lelands or Hunts would be -20%. A tribute to their marketing I guess. |
I find Hunt’s clunky to use, their site isnt nearly as user-friendly. Leland’s just doesnt present as well and seems obsessed with Tom Brady junk. REA and HA leas the way for high quality material and sites. REA does the best job on research and descriptions. My two cents, not too revelatory!
I was interested in the Hodges Wilson Weiners, but i dropped out at about half of where it closed. Not the craziest of prices in the auction but still seemed very high. I am ok waiting for a lesser graded one. |
Crazy prices. Blue Chip cards continue to rise...and, Ticket Stubs are exploding, as well as Game Used items (Bats, Jerseys, etc).

HA
I was working the signed 1950 Bowman Robinson, but the thing ended near 20k. As it should, the Robinson memorabilia items / photos brought insane prices.
|
Heritage prices separate the men from the boys.
|
Gee, there was talk about being in a bubble and the likelihood of a pullback. At least for the good stuff, bubble isn't popp'in.

I didn't really see much vintage (pre 1920) in this one. Some nice n173's at fair prices. Good deal on the e135 Weaver I thought. |
I consigned my E107 Wagner SGC A (upgraded the card when I acquired my E107 set). I did fine on the card (bc I bought it right), but I am genuinely disappointed and think it flopped. My other consignment -- the 1947 Montreal Robinson -- did pretty well. I did not bid on anything in the final days and did not follow day-2 bc I was pissed about the Wagner.
I think the E107 Wagner and Plow's Cobb flopped. I am sure everything else did great bc that's the market and Heritage almost always gets great prices. PS - Great card DJ |
I fell a sleep and lost the George Burke 4x6 photos, but put in a last bid that I was ok losing. A few photos of Mantle (Jacobliss rookie year) and DiMaggio (Burke w Auto)
I was happy to see that Jordan ticket MK PSA 1 sold for about 100k. Tickets are definitely hot. |
I thought it was interesting that the Plows Wagner seriously outshone the Cobb. At the beginning of the auction I would have bet on Cobb.
I managed to snag the SGC4 Teddy Ball Game RC, a long sought minor grail. Not cheap, of course, but doable. |
I won the PSA 3 Exhibit Ruth. I was also surprised it didn’t move at all in extended bidding and that I actually won it. Happy I did!

I fought hard for the Plow’s Wagner but hit my limit. I already have a Plow’s Cobb so did not bid on it. They are both extraordinary cards. They are among the best in the hobby in my opinion.

That 1921 Exhibits is a great pick up. Hands down my favorite Ruth pose- very few fielding poses of the Babe out there.

Nice one! What's weird is that in January an SGC 3 sold for $16,800 and your PSA 3 was $18,600. Just transpose the two digits... |

Who ever got the 33 Gehrig PSA 6 did very well. Sucks it didn't sell for near what one* sold for on ebay back in January.
|

Or maybe someone was just in a hurry to sell and didn't have time to wait for grading. |

I see another PSA 6 that went on Ebay in Jan, but not the one you speak of. Heritage 24K: https://sports.ha.com/itm/baseball/1...umbnail-071515 Ebay 15.5K: https://www.ebay.com/itm/38468109810...p2047675.l2557 |
Michael, I agree, they would have gone higher if graded. I'm okay with raw, so it was my chance to get a Welch at a good price. I thought some had technical flaws. Anyway, always another auction around the corner, keeps it fun.
