PSA Leasing Space on The Hudson in NJ

Collectors Holdings Leases 130,000 Square Feet at Harborside in Jersey City from Veris Residential

Dang, lived nearby there for a few years. Walked by that building twice a day.

This will save a lot of time for east coast folks!

Clearly a staging area for their underwater search for the 1952 Topps cases reportedly dumped in the Hudson. :D

I heard water logged cards take on special qualities like the logs salvage crews pull out off rivers and lakes. For some reason they are just worth more.

Beat me to it!

I live on the Hudson...can I drop stuff off now? Will that knock the price down to 90? Can I wait while they grade?

Has there been a sherd of evidence on this story?

vthobby 02-24-2022 09:41 AM

Yes....

PSA divers on their "Standard Team" were seen plunging into the cold water at around 3am Eastern time.

They are expected to do a thourogh job of Research and ID and are expected to resurface after Quality Check #2 in about 1.5 years or so! :D

Peace, Mike

PS The "Express divers" should be up sooner but no guarantees and they cost more to hire!

Yes, Sy Barger , the head off of Topps at the time, orchestrated the dump and freely talked about it. To add salt to the wound, they were all high series.

Is said to have been done by the then "VP of Licensing' for Topps - Cy Berger in 1959.

So they'll receive a special pedigree title on all of the flips? Maybe "1952 Hudson Dump"?

Oh, you can wait alright. Wait and wait and wait and wait...

I'm curious to see how it will shake out in terms of where to send your cards when the NJ office is up and running. Will it be based on where you live? What you're submitting?

Republicaninmass 02-24-2022 05:23 PM

Likley a new office for their NJ offices?

Snapolit1 02-25-2022 06:23 AM

Henry Yee who grades all the photos lives in Jersey City.

I think I read that they are consolidating their existing NJ office (Woodbridge) into Jersey City.

Rich Klein 02-25-2022 10:23 AM

Moving Woodbridge office to Jersey City makes too much sense not to do when that lease expires.

Scott Alpaugh posted on LinkedIn that he was hired by PSA so I know he'll be working in the new offices. I'm sure there will be other familiar names in the North Jersey/NY Metropolitan area.

I like Henry. He and I always get along very well. He's passionate about what he does and is good at it. As for PSA moving, probably a smart business move.

It is more than just a move but an effort to establish another base camp on the other side of the country which should be good for submission movement and attracting more new graders. You have to wonder how much less consistent the results of grading will be.
