Annoying hat cards
2 Attachment(s)
Just annoy my OCD to no end. Makes the player look like he's wasted. Any other entries?

Gehrig 32 is much…much more “annoying!”

I find the hat wearing angle on this E96 of Mowrey more interesting than annoying.
Brian (card not mine). |
It was the thing back then. Just look at WW1 and WW2 photos. Look at WW2 Navy guys (enlisted guys). Nobody wore the Dixie Cup "squared away". Not on liberty, anyway.

Hats off to these cards.......

They sure didn't waste money on "big" hats back then.

Guy on the far left looks like he got bullied into being in the photo. "Don't worry Luigi", they said. "Nobody's gonna see this picture 140 years from now!". |
Hahahaha. Cool thread.

This fellow creates other distractions with his stance and bat to divert attention from his hat.

hats
Back in the 1940s, Ted Williams, who hated the shape of baseball caps, said,
They make us look like we have bean heads." Perhaps, but they made more sense than the big honkin' hats the players are wearing today. Oh, and you will never, not ever, find a shot of Sunny Jim Bottomley where his hat is sitting straight on his head. lumberjack |

It appears that the T205 set is rife with guys wearing their caps in a jaunty manner:

How about all the players in the 1969 Topps set with blacked out logos on the hats. Like this:

The best and the worst

Reminds me of a joke:
A woman is walking down the beach with her little boy when a rogue wave comes in and washes the boy out to sea. The woman falls to her knees, looks up to heaven, and prays: "Lord, please return my boy to me." Another rogue wave comes in and dumps the child at her feet. She takes a look at her son, looks up at the heavens again, and says: "He had a hat." :D And some H815 Adam Hats premiums: https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...%20Dempsey.jpg https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...0LaMotta_1.jpg |

Here is a hat favorite - the Diamond Stars card of Paul Waner. Even the ump is trying his best to fit into the tilty hat scene.
Brian (the catcher, however, is a stickler for precision headgear placement) |

The 77 Reggie with the fake helmet always bothered me.

Where’s the CJ Comisky?

I've always thought, if you're going to wear a hat in summer, have it serve the purpose of the visor blocking the sun. Rader is wearing his like a tiara.
Possibly so he could sell advertising on his forehead? |
Here's Roy Campanella with his batting yarmulke:

This thread led me to track down the story behind this puzzler from my youth. “I was with the Cardinals in spring training, 1974. A couple guys got hurt, so I got a chance to play, and I went on one of my rare hitting streaks. Lou Brock said, ‘I really like the way you’re playing—I’m going to get you one of my famous Brockabrella hats.’ Ten years later [after the card] Brock called me and said ‘Thanks!’ because now everybody wanted a Brockabrella. I asked, ‘Do I get a piece of the action?’ And he said, ‘Yeah, I’ll send you a beer.’ That’s good enough for me; Lou was one of the class guys. Plus, Budweiser has been sending me a case of beer every year since." |
Never really appreciated how much smaller ball caps were in the past. Bought a few old Negro League caps from Ebbetts Flannels and they are small. Feels odd wearing them, particularly when your head is as large as mine. I guess there was a reason why some of these guys could barely keep their caps on.
