Oldest Individual Player Card, Basketball
1 Attachment(s)
I personally have not found an older basketball card of an individual, named player than those found in the 1928 Aguilitas Set. Anyone know of an older one? Here's a copy I have. Please post if you have one too (or anything older)!

That card is way up there on the want lists of those who collect cards of Jewish athletes:
Fanny "Bobbie" Rosenfeld (December 28, 1904 – November 14, 1969) was a Canadian athlete, who won a gold medal for the 100-metre relay and a silver medal for the 100-metre at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam. She was named "Canadian woman athlete of the half-century" in 1949, and a star at basketball, hockey, softball, and tennis. She was named Canada's Female Athlete of the First Half-Century (1900–1950). She also was called Bobbie for her "bobbed" haircut. The Bobbie Rosenfeld Award is named in her honor. She was also inducted into the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame in 1996. |
I appreciate the discussion. I am a big fan of the 1928 Aguilitas basketball of which I own 41 cards. Also know someone who owns the Fanny card. Of course, it is tough to pry that card from his hands.

The Bobbie is probably the oldest.
The Rosa Grosse is an individual basketball card as well in the Dominion Chocolate set. I tried to attach photos. |
I used to have that 1925 Dominion Chocolates Fanny "Bobbie" Rosenfeld card (that I bought from a Net54 member) some years ago, but sold it to buy other stuff that I wanted more.

The oldest individual player cards are probably from a multiplayer player advertising piece called the Hickey’s piece. This dates to approximately 1906-08. Each card in the strip tells the player names. The Hickey’s strip is quite rare. Here are some pics. Thanks, Pat
