Sad - my card fell apart!

Just got a call from SGC. I submitted a rough (but what I thought was intact) Spalding H818 baseball player. The card had a hard life; bat broken off, glued to a scrapbook page so huge paper loss on the back, big crease across the bottom of the legs, etc.

Well, they said that after very minimal handling, the bottom fell off. My options were a very small piece of tape on the rear and encapsulation, or have it returned raw and unencapsulated (Is that even a word?).

I opted for the tape. It’s a PC card anyway and was not going to get better than an A grade, so what’s a small piece of tape on the back?

Still sad though…

Hopefully they used an archival tape that won't yellow, stain or get brittle with age.

The customer service guy didn’t have much info on the tape but he assured me that it’s not the first time they’ve had to use this fix.

Sorry to hear it came apart. However, it is a really nice card anyhow.

I'm going to think of this quote every time I see a Luka Doncic Super Refractor sell for 6 figures.
