BCW Boxes- 660 or 800 count for set builds
I’m building multiple 1973 Topps Baseball and 1985 Donruss baseball which are both 660 card sets. I will sleeve the top cards and place them on top of the other cards. Deciding if I should buy 660 count or 800 count boxes. I would have to put some bubble wrap in the 800 count box. I don’t want the 660 count box to be too tight and hard to remove the cards for inspection. Hoping to get some opinions from seasoned set builders. Thank you in advance, Tom

Whenever I go to look through my sets from the 70's, the ones that are snugly fit into the boxes are a nightmare. I have to stand them on end so gravity will cause a bit of space to appear on top, and then I can get my finger in there and start removing chunks of cards. Plus, there's the worry of damaging the cards when attempting to fit them back into the box, which also sucks. If space isn't an issue, I would always choose the bigger box to make your future a little bit easier.

My preference as well, always would prefer an extra inch or so than too snug.

Always size up in set boxes. It’s much easier to fill extra space than jam your fingers in to a box that’s packed too tight. Plus in my experience, those number counts are way off for vintage cards. I’d be shocked if you could fit 700 vintage cards into an “800 ct” box.
