1940s Negro league glove est value
A small auction house near me has a 1940s glove with 10 negro league signatures including Buck O’Neil. It is part of a large auction of Black Americana. This is the only item baseball related.
Some other sigs included: Jimmy Dean Armando Vazquez Ray Hoffman Ernest Burke Gene Benson Russell Awkard Leroy Cromartie They all seemed to play in the 40s with different teams. Any one have a guess what something like that is worth? |
Do you happen to have any pictures of it? Could at least let some people who are knowledgeable take a venture on wether the autographs are authentic or not. Also the glove that they are on could be of significance to the right person.

It is a nice item. None of the signatures are particularly rare. They are all authentic and signed in modern times. I would value at a couple hundred dollars.

Thanks, that was the range I was thinking too. Thanks for the quick feedback!

Opinion
Those signatures look good to my untrained eye …. I would think it’s just an old glove someone had signed en masse at a reunion event or group signing. Hence I don’t really think it’s an authentic Negro League glove just an old mitt someone had signed by these gentlemen.

I spoke to the auction house and the confirmed that the glove is just a glove. It appears the signatures were collected over a number of years.
The owner was an auctioneer and a well know collector Black Americana. He must of past away recently. |
