Historic July 4th, 1939 Lou Gehrig Day with Babe Ruth Silver-Gelatin Photograph
 

Offered is one of the more famous shots of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig together on a very somber day. This 7” x 9” silver-gelatin photo shows Babe Ruth hugging Lou Gehrig during the Lou Gehrig Day ceremonies at Yankee Stadium on July 4, 1939. This is a Type 3 photo that was produced in the late 40s or early 50s. A superb alternative to a original Type 1 photo that would usually fetch in the thousands. Photo is clean with minor discoloration near the bottom on them. Light crease on the bottom left corner. The reverse has some residue on the edge and pencil mark. Nonetheless— fantastic image that is highly sought after.
