Goldin Auctions
Has anyone out there had a bad experience with Goldin? I just placed several premium items with them and the results have been unsatisfactory.
|
You were a consignor and not pleased with the results?
|
I've been consigning with them for the past 4-5 years, and have been extremely pleased with the results.
Very good all around customer service for consignors as well, meaning responsive to emails, updating any info on auction listings, pretty fast to pay out. |
i am a consignor and very unhappy with their consignment staff. The mistakes they made were completely avoidable and will cost me money as a result. I had planned to place more items with them but will no longer consider their services. I am delighted some consignors may have had a good experience but my next consignment will be elsewhere.
|
What items did you consign? It is hard to judge what they could have done differently, if anything, without more details.
|
I am the judge about what they did incorrectly and i gave them every chance to correct the problem. They admitted errors, apologized and them continued to make the same mistake. I really am not trying to debate the good or bad about Goldin but i just wanted to know what type of reputation they had among the collecting community. If others had good experiences, great. But not with me. Fortunately, there are good options out there for my next consignment. Thanks for the dialogue.

Just let KennyG see this post and you will get a resolution. He will be mad you didn’t reach out to him directly first though.
|
Ken already knows about it as i worked through the organization before i posted. I am not sure why i should be concerned about whether he is mad or not.

I just used them for the first time. Very happy with the overall experience and staff I dealt with. My item didnt quite get what i was hoping but it is what it is. Thats the risk of auctions sometimes. They were always responsive by email and phone and helpful.

As I see it, many high end auction houses should treat consignors as customers. Clearly, without product, particularly high end product, they would not have a business. It may be the result of the current bull market but many of them act like we consignors, are lucky to be able to consign with them. Before i get a lot of messages about Goldin, I am not referring specifically to them. Many of the high end auction houses act this way. If there is a way to sell directly to fellow collectors, that would be the perfect world.

You just found your perfect world . . . right here on the B/S/T on Net54. |

Exactly! The B/S/T is so great. Can't beat the consignment fees. The only downside is that if the listing is bad, there is only one person to blame. Who took that terrible picture of my card?!? Oh wait...it was me. |
