Free to good home - 1940's to 50's lot

I like where this is going. I'll mail for free a handful or more of 40's Bowman, 1952 and '53 topps cards to first response. Will ensure there is a star or two in the lot. Respond here and once confirmed you can pm me your address.

Shorttmail66 12-21-2021 08:08 PM

I would love to pick up some vintage ….thank you for the offer.

wdwfan 12-21-2021 08:26 PM

This is an awesome idea. I'd definitely be interested in a lot. Got a coaching buddy here locally working on 52T and 53T, and I'd love to give them to him.

NewbieCollector 12-21-2021 08:34 PM

Totally agree awesome idea and very generous!

Tao_Moko 12-21-2021 09:15 PM

I'll go with the first two. Newbie and wdwfan - send me pm's w/ address and I'll get them mailed out.

Lucas00 12-21-2021 10:36 PM

Very nice!

jingram058 12-22-2021 11:14 AM

If there are any more, I would LOVE to have them! And I solemnly swear that, as gifts, I won't sell, trade or try to flip them!

PM me your address. Will send you a stack as well. The early Topps issues('52 & '53) are copies of actual works of art. Happy to share art.

What a generous idea, especially just in time for Christmas. I'm hoping there's a few left to put under my tree, my wife said I'm getting a lump of coal ha ha. Again, would love to have a few. Thank you.

Jeff

Eric - Amazing gesture.
I'd like a batch.
I'm planning on paying it forward with cards I have no use for now too.
Maybe you've started a Santa revolution!
Be well and Happy Holidays.

mberger718 12-23-2021 01:41 PM

Very generous and I'd love a couple of older Bowmans if you have any extras. Happy Holidays!

John1941 12-23-2021 05:56 PM

As others have said, I'd love some if there are any left. If not, that's fine. Very generous offer.

I'd be interested.

jingram058 01-05-2022 03:46 PM

Are these cards still coming? Thanks.

Tao_Moko 01-07-2022 08:58 PM

Cards are mailed. Coming snail mail, but out the door. Sorry for the delay. We've had lots if snow and power outages here. For me that means livestock needs hay as a priority.

wdwfan 01-08-2022 10:05 AM

Sorry to hear you've been going through power outages and snowstorms. We went through that last February here in Texas, so I know how you feel.

Sad that someone's already posted wondering where their free cards are and why they haven't arrived yet. Even though they're free and not out anything. Pretty sad to be honest. Be safe and stay warm and well.

Yes, it is sad to ask questions about anything you do not know the answers to. See you in church tomorrow.

+1

wdwfan 01-09-2022 04:40 PM

I wasn't so much saying that because the guy was looking for an answer. I was moreso mentioning it because the cards are free. Is it really a big deal if the person that was sending them changed their mind and didn't send them? The poster wasn't going to be out anything.

I mean they're free. I'm not worried about getting them today, next week, next month or ever. If I get them, I'm giving them to a fellow collector here in town. If I don't, I won't. But I'm not worried about how quickly they come or even if they come at all.

I know the person that asked was looking for an answer. But that's not what I was talking about. They're free. I'm in no rush to get them. Or, for that matter, who cares if they ever get here.

Guessing it was just a miscommunication on how you read the question asking about the status. Happens all the time with the written word where it’s hard to read tone and whatnot.

DM would be the proper form to ask his question.

jingram058 01-09-2022 05:37 PM

Look, had I known this was going to turn into a morality play, I never would have asked. I know they're free. I am not concerned about ever getting them, like you, either. In fact, like you, I am giving these to a fellow I know who likes old cards, but doesn't have the means to buy cards like you and I have. I have given him most of my dupes already. I simply wanted to know if the free cards, an extremely generous offer, were coming. If it was bad form, and at 64 I honestly don't care to be schooled up about such things anymore, so be it, apologies, it's done. I can't undo asking.

I agree. While I'm sure it wasn't meant this way, some could see it as calling the sender out.

Can you please read my post above yours, and let this go? Thank you.

Kutcher55 01-10-2022 03:30 PM

The guy has a right to ask if his cards shipped. That’s all he did and then the self righteous police took over.

Of course he does but you don't think thats better left to private messages?

Kutcher55 01-10-2022 07:19 PM

Yes better in private. But not ‘sad what is this world coming to’ when he asked in public.

Please read the above. I'm sorry I ever asked for free cards. I do not need or even want them at this point. A very kind gesture by the OP. Now, kindly let it go. Finally, if I ever offer up free cards, and you don't hear back from me, feel free to ask any way you prefer...email, PM, post here for all the world to see, whatever. I promise I won't go to pieces or get all judgemental or question your sanity or generally feel offended in any way. If folks are this fragile when it comes to "good form", then to Hell with it. You keep your cards, I'll happily keep mine.

Yea, making way too much of this, seems to me its unnec

bobbyw8469 01-11-2022 08:54 AM

It seems that the word "FREE" brings out the worst in people.

JohnP0621 01-11-2022 04:18 PM

Free Cards

When I first read this post I thought that this was such a very nice gesture by the original poster . Than all of a sudden the post turned ugly like so many posts before. Can’t we all just get along
Happy New Year.
Best Regards
John P

The OP is a good dude, the recipient is a good due. We’re getting along. I’ll change the topic to something I’m sure we can all agree on: Spahn is slightly better than Koufax. :)
