Lets see those MAGNUMS!
1 Attachment(s)
Once bastardized in the hobby by many...oversized cards such as exhibits, postcards, some M's, T3/T4/T5, some W's , T201/T202, M's have become very desirable due tot their relative scarcity.
LETS SEE EM! Here's an elusive BLUE BIRD! |

I agree; with everything else going nuts, the overlooked stuff has great potential. Besides, it's fun!
Here's a 1950 San Diego Padres (PCL) oversized premium with new HOFer Orestes Minoso: https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...size/image.jpg https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...ze/image_1.jpg A couple of prewar Billy Taub pieces: https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...0variation.jpg https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...20sign%201.JPG And if we are going with PC sized stuff, I never get tired of this one: https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...0McCarthy.jpeg |
I always like the W554 set as it is packed with HOFers and was relatively cheap. Plus you could drive yourself crazy with the different variations and back prints as well. The N142s are some of the most beautiful cards ever made in my opinion.

At 3" x 4" these E300 Plow's Candy cards are slightly larger than 1952-56 Topps, so in my opinion they just barely qualify for Magnum status.

I picked this up raw from an antiques dealer friend about 3 or 4 years ago. He said it was tucked inside an old book that was included in a box lot at a Detroit estate auction.

Joe Judge 1926-29 Exhibits
5 Attachment(s)
Joseph I. "Joe" Judge. First baseman with the Washington Senators in 1915-1932. 2,352 hits and 71 home runs in 20 MLB seasons. 1924 World Series champion. In 1924, as Washington won the AL pennant and the World Series, he had one of his better years as he posted a .393 OBP with 71 runs scored and 79 RBI's in 593 plate appearances. He finished his career with the Boston Red Sox in 1933-1934. He may have been the basis for the character of Joe Hardy in Damn Yankees, whose author dated Judge's daughter in the 1940's.
Judge's SABR biography relates how Judge helped Walter Johnson secure his only career no-hitter: On July 1, 1920, Walter Johnson was attempting to complete a feat that had thus far eluded him in his thirteen-year career. The Washington Senator hurler was one out away from pitching his first no-hitter. Johnson was pitching a great game, striking out 10 Red Sox hitters and getting six others to foul out. He was clinging to a 1-0 lead in front of a small crowd of 3,000 at Fenway Park. Standing in his way was Boston’s right fielder, Harry Hooper. Hooper was the only Red Sox to reach base, courtesy of a fielding error by second baseman Bucky Harris. He had also struck out in a previous confrontation between the future residents of Cooperstown. But Hooper was not caught up in the moment, and ripped Johnson’s second offering down the first base line that crossed the bag and was hooking into foul territory. First baseman Joe Judge quickly moved to his left, speared the ball, stopped and made a perfect toss to Johnson covering the base. The Big Train snagged the toss bare-handed. Judge was so excited, he went into a war-dance and congratulated Johnson, who could only say “Goodness, gracious, sakes alive, wasn’t I lucky?” https://www.net54baseball.com/attach...1&d=1639739427 https://www.net54baseball.com/attach...1&d=1639739434 https://www.net54baseball.com/attach...1&d=1639739441 https://www.net54baseball.com/attach...1&d=1639739449 https://www.net54baseball.com/attach...1&d=1639739458 |

Leon, your Champ Hats of Stan the Man is a beauty! I wish my Champ Hat of Mickey Vernon, one of my favorite Senators when I was a kid, was autographed. The second large piece shows Vernon in 1939 with the Springfield (MA) Nationals of the Eastern League, where he played in 69 games before moving up to the Senators and appearing in 76 games in his rookie season.
