Brooks Robinson run

I grew up an avid die hard Orioles fan. I started collecting when I was 5 in 1976. I collected any Orioles cards I could get. Fast forward to my early 20's, I was offered a chance in a photo shoot for a Crown Gasoline ad on the back cover of the score card printed for the inaugural (Pre-season) game at Camden Yards vs the Mets in 1992. The theme was "Community Heroes." The photo shoot was with none other than Brooks Robinson. Zero hesitation to say the least. After the shoot I spent quite a few minutes talking baseball with him and he signed a baseball for me.

Yesterday, I finally completed my Brooks base run. The rookie card was the last piece of the puzzle. Arguably the greatest Oriole of all time and certainly the best 3rd Baseman ever. I wanted to share with the Net54 gang.

I am the (very young) firefighter on he right.

Thanks for sharing and Nice Card Run!!

I love the defensive side of the game. Brooks was the gold standard with 16 gold gloves at third base, wow.

Many would argue Schmidt to be the GOAT at 3rd base. He had a not-so-shabby 10 gold gloves and a much better offensive career. 548 HRs vs. 268 for Brooks

Myself, I’m pulling for Arenado to catch and/or pass Brook’s gold glove record. So far, he’s 9 for 9! And the best I’ve personally ever witnessed

Time will tell, fun fun

Hmmm, Arenado currently sits at 269 HRs, interesting ;)

Thanks for sharing. Awesome run!

Orioles have a sneaky amazing history.

It's always struck me as quite bizarre that for a guy who is so world-famous for his defensive glove work, only a pair of his regular cards spanning two decades show him wearing a mitt.

Nice run!!!

Congrats and great story. Brooks was/is one of the nicest professional athletes who ever graced planet earth.
