How was there such a price disparity between these 2 cards? am I missing something? different backs?

Interesting - look darn similar to me

They both look great and they both are 150 Piedmont Backs.and both the centering and coloring both look similar.
I am at a loss. I am probably missing something obvious.
MAy just be as simple as 2 bidders got into a bidding war on the 1 card and did not look/see the other
Interesting to see what others say.

$2580 is way more than the range of SGC/PSA3s. this is a beauty, but is it exemplary in some way that I cannot tell?

I had not seen the prices until after I made my decision and I was correct. The one that went lower has a great look and centering but that chuck missing on lower left corner stood out. I exaggerate but it really stands out compared to the other one. I'd prefer the higher priced one but not sure I would have paid that much more. I just like the overall look of the higher priced one. Just my 2 cents!

I agree the other is superior for that reason. however, the absolute price is still way above that grade range. I guess if you hone in on a card you want, you don't care about price
