New member saying hello

Hi everybody,

I have just recently started getting into baseball and after learning about the T206 set I thought I would start a collection. I absolutely love the art and history behind these cards.

I think the main challenge of collecting this set for me will be the fact I live in the UK, they don't come up very often on eBay here so I will have to get most shipped from the US which adds a hefty postage fee of course.

I have also ordered the T206 collection: The players and their stories, so I can learn about all these people I'm spending all my money on :)

I did manage to pick up two cards off UK eBay to start my collection though.

Somebody on reddit linked me to an article regarding the card with the stamped back which was very interesting...https://thegreatt206backstampproject...m/ff-baker.php

I look forward to talking to people on the forum and hopefully adding to my collection from people here too.

Welcome, I was going to point out the back stamp, but it looks like you've already found out about it.
Those are good looking cards. Since you pointed out that shipping across the pond is a difficulty, look into the COMC mailbox option. That allows you to send cards to an account in the US, where they process them and put them in your holdings. Then you can, at your timeline, have them packaged and mailed to you in the UK. There are other companies like "ShipMyCards" that do the same thing.
https://blog.comc.com/mailbox-service/

COMC also has plenty of T206s for sale, but the pricing there is very hit or miss since there's about 20,000 different card sellers using that site. Anything fairly priced seems to get snapped up quickly. But compared to tracked shipping internationally, it might be an option for you.

Welcome and good luck on your collecting journey. The backstamp website is Andy Huntoon's project, he's also a member here and a great guy.

I used to use COMC for hockey cards actually and found the service to be decent but on sending larger value packages back I would seem to pay a large import fee when it arrived in the UK. I will have to check that out and see if it works out cheaper though.

Thank you Casey2296. Thats good to know he is a member on here, if he is still putting the collection together I would love to add this one to it if he wanted.

Thanks for the plug and kind words Phil!

Joe, I'll certainly add an image of your card to the FF Baker gallery page on my website. To be clear, I don't own all the cards on that site, I merely document them as I find them or when collectors email images to me. I'll PM you regarding yours.

Take care,

Andy
