Football

Football games today 31-3, 43-3, 45-7, 16-16, and now we have a thrilling 3-0 contest. And people say baseball is dull.

And how come I haven’t heard a single announcer all day lament what is wrong with NFL football and how the game must be changed?

The 3-0 game was hotly contested until it became a 17-0 game in the fourth quarter. Is a 77-34 game more interesting? Doesn't Alabama (49-3 at the half yesterday) have to pay students to stick around for the second half, so the stadium seems full and on edge?

When Alabama's schedule includes such powerhouses as Mercer, Southern Mississippi, and New Mexico State, I think the outcome is decided before the game starts.

The NFL did also have on Sunday 23-17, 27-20, 23-21, and most delightfully a 16-16 tie.
Overtime should be exclusively for playoff games (NHL as well).

And Detroit avoided the possibility of becoming the NFL's first 17 game regular season loser.

Every time I watch a nationally broadcast baseball game the announcers just crap on baseball all night. Arod. Smoltz. Darling. Just non stop bellyaching about how lousy the game has gotten and how no one wants to watch it. Oh for the good old days.
How come football announcers never seem to crap on their game, no matter how different it is than the game 25 years ago?

Interesting point. The way the game has changed the NFL announcers point to the refs for it more than the players for sure.
