Hi Group,

Up for sale is a highy rare (one of a kind), extremely early, what I believe to be a 1800's model Horace and Partridge (H.P. & Co, Boston) bat. It may have been a prototype bat, as it's a big oblong - measures about 2.25 inches X 2.0 inches at the barrel, with the longer portion extending north and south when swinging the bat with the label brand facing up - essentially creating a wider hitting surface, and it is 2.0 inches from west to east when swinging, so not as deep as it is tall in other words. Very solid bat. Not cracked. Has some very early initials carved into back of bat. First one is very ornate, 1800's style font/engraving, with the other being more block. Could have been the person who made the bat, or original owner(s).

Measures approximately 34.5 inches, and Weights about 37 oz. It's a club. No major issues other than the carved initials/names on the exact back of the barrel (cannot see when displayed from the top, or sides.

I have never seen another HP bat like this, and I think it could certainly be a museum piece for 1800's style bats, given the oblong, more oval type of barrel.

I've had this one in my collection for 20+ years. It's time to see if it should have a new home. Willing to trade this for another high end/rare bat, glove, uniform, cap, etc OR sell (make me an offer).

Thanks,
Mark
