Most Valuable Card in your Collection

Cards in our collections come and go, often with joy or agony. What is the most valuable card you are holding now? I will start with my '33 Goudey Ruth#53 PSA4 with a Turkey Red Cobb SGC4 a close second.
I totally understand if anyone cares not to disclose.

perhaps a matter of time before your order reverses?

My stuff pales in comparison to everyone else's, but I was glad to find this variation.

Would have to be my 69 Topps Mantle WL. Thankfully it was purchased a while ago when it was very expensive but not unreachable.

I would not be able to get one today, even in the condition I own. Grades probably a fair at best. But it is mine now.

This one most definitely, even with the front paper loss.

Probably this... (STILL cannot believe that I own it!)

I used to have some valuable cards (a lot of us can say that). But while that first collection was going to auction this card came up for sale. Since Heritage had possession of my collection they said I had a good credit limit :)....
I don't really know the value of it but it's probably the highest dollar card I have...

I love that Cy, Leon. The red lettering with red background is beautiful! This Goudey Ruth would be mine.

I saw the title of the thread and had a feeling this card was coming.:D

tedzan 11-04-2021 08:01 AM

I don't know which one of these cards is more valuable. It really does not matter, since my Grandson, Ron, will inherit them.

Mine is a meager collection comparatively speaking but for what is in my collection today, my "most valuable" is this one. Love them all nonetheless! Currently at SGC getting a new house.

I really hate to admit it; however, this Pokemon box is worth more than any individual sports card I own.

Sorry the picture is a bit dated. I was going to consign this to an AH last year. They already had one for their auction, so I held on to mine. If this post leads to serious talk of a sale/trade, I can always re-take the picture.

Thats an incredible looking card.

darwinbulldog 11-04-2021 11:18 AM

Not sure what order they go in today, but these would probably appraise as my top three.

T206 Ty Cobb (red) Polar Bear -- PSA 1 but looks better
E126 Babe Ruth -- PSA 1(MK)
2000 Bowman Tom Brady -- PSA 9

My 1990 Topps Traded Kevin Maas rookie card. He's due for a breakout any day now. :D

Probably this one. I picked up Jackie about two years ago. With the tear prices have been on this past year and a half, there's no way I'd be able to swing it now.

Value only matters if you're gonna sell; if not, it's all a popcorn fart. This is my favorite prewar baseball card:

https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...on%20ready.jpg

Had it since I was 12. Gonna have it until they bury me. Might even have my daughter toss it into the casket along with my other childhood cards: 1952 Topps Walt Dropo, 1969 Topps Wilt Chamberlain, and 1974 Topps Hank Aaron...

Better than a card show. That signed 53 Jackie is wild. Always can stare at the red Cy Young 7 and that raw 52T Mantle up there has amazing centering. The 2 up there of the 144 Ruth has insane registration for that card, ditto for the red Cobb 4. Very fun scrolling this. Mine would be one of these two. Probably the 52T considering it had only one prior owner, who pulled it from a pack in Morisson, Illinois in 1952. Having a recorded interview with the pack puller and being able to trace its provenance to the pack in this era probably would translate into a few more bids were it on the auction block. Moot though, as my son is getting it and has sworn never to sell it, either. If he breaks his promise after I'm gone, I will haunt him and make Poltergeist and The Conjuring look like Teletubbies.

My most valuable card is a T206 Matty card my brother gave me about 40 years ago. It surprised me because I had no clue he knew where to find something like that. He actually gave me two cards that Christmas, the other was an N162 Dunlap.

Awesome, I will also list the card(s) most valuable to me. This Wade Boggs and Roger Clemens wrong back pair is by far my favorite cards. They are also my 2 favorite players. I got these directly from Score back in the day and wouldn't sell them for WAY more the the price Al listed.

To me, the cards that are subjectively the most valuable to people are much more interesting than those worth the most money.

A couple of the former from the nonsports side of my collection, cards I literally looked years for, a 1954 British card of Julie Andrews and a 1964/5 French card of Bob Dylan. If the term applied, these are "rookie" cards.
