Babe Ruth pose on a card?
Hello everyone,
Anyone familiar with this image of Ruth on a baseball card? Thanks!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...017fbb2537.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
No, but you can buy a copy on ebay for $5.39. So someone might be making a knockoff card using the same image. Here's the link:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/203277547328 Or at this link they are calling it a BABE RUTH VINTAGE CALDORS DEPT STORE PITCHING YANKEES BASEBALL CARD where it is $2.95 and there are 4 available: https://www.ebay.com/itm/30409677109...0AAOSwCAJhDcFS |

We did date it to his last start as a pitcher against the RedSox on 9/28/1930. But can’t find an issue or the photogs name. I’m thinking a newspaper photog. It does look similar to a Mendelsohn pose which several cards were made from. I think it’s the same stadium but there the similarity ends. The card pictured does have plenty of alligator aging on the cream colored back so I’m with you that it’s a Franken card. Does have an auto on back also that is a bit off in pencil… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
nice looking picture.
Nice Action Shot I do not recognize it on any cards or postcards |

Here is a scorecard from that last start as a pitcher

Very cool that scorecard! It is that Caldor card. Signature on match is the same. This one was artificially aged. Saved my buddy a no no no from JSA… Thanks for the help!
