Just curious. Anybody have problems from this USPS shipping facility?
|
My first 2 guesses would have been Kearny NJ ten miles from the place in the story. Then Chicago if sending internationally.

I do not know if it is related.
But whenever I win anything from Goldin Auctions or after I sell and I am waiting for a check it can take up to 3 weeks to get mail/package. When I call them they always say that they are having issues with their post office which is in Runnemede, NJ. I Always get it but it Always takes time any other areas from NJ that I get mail from it does not take that long. |
I think there is a facility in the DFW area which pops up at time as a problem location.

I have had issues with Teterboro in the past. However, my destination USPS distribution center is Warrendale, PA who also have a bad reputation.
My last dealings with Teterboro I had an autographed Clemente ball go through Teterboro to Warrendale, then it was sent all the way back to Teterboro where it sat for a few days and then was resent to Warrendale where I eventually received it. That experience was what made me jump in and get collectibles insurance. Although I have not had to use it, I have not been impressed with USPS over the last few years. I also tend to have issues with UPS and FedEx at times. Also to add context, Ive had issues with Teterboro far longer than the timeframe referenced in the article. They are blaming it on hurricanes and slower mail service, but this existed before any of that. |
USPS New Jersey
I noticed that the USPS NJ facility which served REA (can't recall it) was slow
in REA's last auction. I've also experienced delays with other NJ USPS facilities when dealing with folks on net54. Can't figure it out, other places in USA have tons of packages too. It's not good though, when I see a member's geographical location and must consider it as a factor in whether to do business. I don't care about a 2 day delay, but I sure do care about the "black hole" phenomenon- Trent King |
Worst in my experience:
1. Chicago International Sorting Center 2. Charlotte, NC 3. Flint, MI (and things being needlessly routed to Flint, then back to the second last point, then back to Flint, ad nauseum) 4. Bell, CA |

The short answer is "YES" it's a problem
I live in Closter (a northern New Jersey town roughly 18 miles from Teterboro) and most of my mail comes through that USPS facility and can tell you it wasn't always that bad. My local USPS agents say that the problem is a combination of the Ida damage, dramatically-increased package shipping volumes since the onset of Covid, and personnel issues (as in not enough people). I have no way to gauge the period-to-period performance of flat mail delivery (i am guessing it is relatively unchanged), but I can attest to the claim on packages. My latest example is below. It is a UPS Mail Innovations delivery whereby UPS handles the long-haul piece and USPS handles the customer delivery. Maybe I'll get it next week; maybe not. |

25 years of selling on eBay never had one lost package w/tracking ever found or recovered that went through that place. |
I've had a card sitting here for 8 days
Seems like the are more delays than ever, lately. This is the current one for me:
Oct 13, 2021 5:46pm PROCESSED THROUGH USPS FACILITY LEHIGH VALLEY PA DISTRIBUTION C, 18002 |
I'm sure some facilities are more problematic than others, but my general experience in the last 2-3 years has been that the USPS can F up a shipment - anywhere, anytime - in the USA it wants to.

What - you've never seen the Sopranos?

I have no information about the postmaster. |
I have a card destination SoCal that has been MIA for 6 weeks. Kearney NJ postal building was affected by flood and they had to condem one building. So NJ has definitely been slowing down. With a number of trucks filled with mail just sitting in parking lot things will not get better soon.
