2 Attachment(s)
Are there reproductions of these pencil clips?
|
dunno? looks kinda good to me?
|
You can't see it in this picture, but it says "Parisian Nolvelty Co Chicago" along the bottom edge of the button. (Or whatever you call that)
|
I don’t collect or own any of those pencil clips, but I could swear I heard somewhere that they are heavily reproduced. I could well be wrong but that’s my recollection.

Here's a picture taken off an eBay listing that shows the inscription.

Hi
I am no expert on it. It looks like it is in great shape for its age. I tried searching the web to see if they are sold in bulk or reproduced or anything and cannot find anything on it. I think it is a interesting piece and hopefully someone can let you know for sure either way Good Luck with it |
It sort of looks legit.

Thanks for the help Net54 friends. If anyone knows anything more, I would appreciate it.

There are a ton of similar clips on ebay. I must be wrong but I could swear I remember someone saying they are heavily faked...

Maybe there are fakes. But how do you tell which ones are real or fake?
|
I have the answer to my own question. I not only have a Babe ruth pencil clip, but a Satchel Paige one as well.
The Satchel Paige one has letters that are blobs under magnication. The Ruth one has clear letters. The Ruth is obviously real. The Paige is a reproduction. :) |

Bad News I was moving some items and found this. I dont believe Quaker issued a pencil topper with the Babe Ruth fan club kit. The image is from a Quaker oats piece that came in the mail with the photo book etc. Not sure if it was a pin but definitely not a pencil topper. The Paige is part of a series and has been faked heavily as well. I do know that this one and all like it are "Fantasy pices". Fantasy Magical not sure what best describes these. But I do know that many folks watched there hard earned dollars disappear after buying one. I got this one and 11 others for $1.50 in the mid 80's.
