CONTEST ClOSED
Brockelman Auction contest time is here again for the auction that ends this Saturday, and you have the chance to score some vintage cards, including a bunch of cards of Hall of Famers, such as Tris Speaker, Eddie Collins, Paul Waner, Zack Wheat and more, and now with some T206 cards available too! The auction: http://www.brockelmanauctions.com/catalog.aspx This time the contest will involve the first 153 lots in the auction (lot #'s 1 through 153), which is mostly Pre-WW2 baseball. Your guesses will only involve the lot numbers in the auction whose lot number ends in numbers 0, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, or 9. You will need to guess one lot number from each of the above lot ending numbers (from lots #1 through 153) that I consigned to the auction. An example guess of lot numbers would look as follows: 0 - 620 1 - 591 2 - 712 4 - 644 6 - 706 8 - 618 9 - 739 The above guess would not be very successful, because these lot numbers do not exist in the auction, but at least this sadly oblivious guesser was correct in picking only 1 lot in each of 7 different lot ending numbers. Your goal is to guess more correctly the lots that I consigned than your fellow Net54'er. In the case of a tie, the first guesser is the top winner. The prizes are as follows: Top guesser gets their choice of one HOF card from the first scan (or the lot of 6 1954 Topps seen in the second scan) AND 2 common cards from the third scan. The runner up will get 2 commons of their choice from the third scan, after the top guesser makes his selection, of course. As a bonus, if someone identifies all 7 correctly (would only apply to first who does this), then they would be able to pick an additional Hall of Famer card. The rundown on prize cards available: First Scan (HOF): W517 Paul Waner 1936 S&S Game Joe Cronin Diamond Stars Kiki Cuyler W513 Herb Pennock W512 Dazzy Vance W560 Al Simmons W560 Kiki Cuyler W573 Zack Wheat W514 Clark Griffith W516 Ray Schalk W516 Tris Speaker T202 end panel Frank Baker W515 Red Faber W590 Eddie Collins 2nd scan (considered a HOF pick): Group lot of 6 1954 Topps including Hoyt Wilhelm 3rd scan (Commons): 1941 Double Play Moore/Mancuso Diamond Stars Berger 1936 Goudey Werber E121 Griffith W573 Fletcher E120 Smith 1933/36 Zeenut Hunt E91C Street C46 Silton W560 Thevenow W560 Myer W590 Blades W516 Fletcher W519 Barnes W514 McCarty W560 Thompson 4th Scan: T206 Delehanty T206 Clark T206 Murphy T206 Marquard (counts as HOF pick) You are allowed two guesses of 7, with no edits. All guesses need to be posted by 6pm EST on Saturday, October 16th, the same night that the auction closes. Good Luck! Brian |

And remember, the tiebreaker for guesses with the same correct amount is the earlier entry, so that means you better get crackin' with your guesses. Brian |
Hi,

Keep the guesses coming...it just involves a little bit of your time and pouring over the auction.
I believe many of us already do this as an unpaid (and actually quite costly) second job anyway. Brian |
Thanks

A bump to remind that both the contest and auction end tomorrow. Also, I have added the below T206 cards as available prizes to entice those who know which side their toasted tobacco cards are buttered.
Brian (Marquard counts as a HOF pick, because, of course, he is in the HOF) |

I understood...
I understood there would be no math on Net54.

I have no clue, so this is mostly random:

Final notice...less than 4 hours (6pm EST deadline) to get your TWO guesses in.
Good Luck, and if nothing else, enjoy the auction as either spectator or participant. Brian |
One tiny hint to help out any wanting to dip their toe (or toes, if they have multiple to spare) into the contest...no lots I consigned are currently over $400 NOR are any likely to end above $400.
I swear, the rumors of math being necessary in this contest are wildly exaggerated. For example you only need to be somewhat familiar with the Fibonacci Sequence to submit a potentially successful guess. Brian |

Congrats to nat, who was the top guesser with 6 correct with one of his guesses. He will be awarded the HOF card (or lot) of his choice and 2 commons from scans 3 or 4.
Nebboy also correctly guessed 6, but his guess came in after nat. He is awarded 2 commons of his choice after nat has made his picks. PM's to both on the way. Thanks again to all for participating, and hopefully you also scored some cards from the auction. Brian |
Congrats to the winners and great choice of cards
Thanks for the contest Brian |
2nd place prize received.
