SOLD Ruth & Gehrig Ball Signed 10/21/28 dated in Ruth's hand
 

This ball was signed by Ruth and Gehrig at Star Park, NY during their barnstorming tour on October 21, 1928. That date and location are written on the ball in Ruth's hand.

Also included is a blow-up on parchment-style paper of the Syracuse Herald from that day, which corroborates their game at Star Park.

The Star Park barnstorming game was won by Gehrig's club, 9-2. As a funny side note, Ruth set a local record by downing eighteen hot dogs prior to the game (documented in period reports). I chose this one because I liked the extra layer of authenticity from the dating in Ruth's hand and newspaper reports of the game.

The ball appears to be an official American League ball (stampings light, partially legible). It is toned with age and displays abrasions.
