Maybe the National isn't dead in Cleveland

New ownership of the IX Center says it plans for major events to return to the convention center.

This would be fantastic. I wonder how quickly the National would return to Cleveland, should that be of interest to both parties.

Yes !!! I really hope it comes back to Cleveland !! A lot of great collectors around there.

I always enjoyed the National in Cleveland, would enjoy one more trip to that venue.

I don’t think it will ever get away from Chicago, Atlantic City, and Maybe Cleveland.

I always curious how much the "owner" of the National event make every year. Millions $? All they need is to rent a place and let sellers rent out tables, right?

Atlantic City is a 5.5 hour drive for me and Cleveland is around 13 hours driving. Even with an extra 7.5 hours of driving each way I’d rather travel to Cleveland. Avoiding Jersey and NYC is a win in my book. The IX Center is enormous, easy parking, nice affordable hotels and restaurants in the area, not much to complain about with Cleveland. I prefer driving over flying as I can combine the trip with a stop in Canton or Cooperstown.

Cleveland is in a nice location for a large majority of east coast and Midwest collectors. I wouldn’t mind switching the AC show with either a Denver, Dallas, Salt Lake, Phoenix show every other time to get a more central location for the west coasters.

Never been to Cleveland but I believe ideally the Nationals should rotate each year to different parts of the country so that gives most opportunities for people to go that might not normally go.

Plus it allows people to combine Nationals with other “vacation activities” since they would be in different States

The regulars will travel.

Spoken like someone who has never promoted a show.

I did a two day show in the Poconos, a few guys here might remember it. The workload is immense. Now multiply what I did times at least 20 to get even a vague idea of what the National is like.

With White Castle a short walk from my last stay I hope it comes back to Cleveland myself!

Yep. I bet there's at least a small staff that works the entire a year on events like the National. Also true for big auto shows, marathons - people would be amazed what goes into organizing a marathon in a big city.

Hope it gets back to Cleveland as well. Traffic in and near Chicago is annoying. Cleveland is easy.

Haha. You’ve clearly never been part of putting on a show 😀

Sadly, no more white castle restaurants in the Cleveland area.

One more inconsequential vote for Anaheim. The National started here, and we can't get it back.

Plus Cleveland has the 'Christmas Story' house to visit. Kind of a fun if you haven't been. They have leg lamps in many sizes.
