Trivia - Most HOF Pitcher Non-Pitchers
I don't know if this is easy or hard. Name the team (1901 forward) that had the most Hall of Fame players who at one time were pitchers - but only played other positions during this season.

New York Yankees?

All 3 are in the T3 set
Okay, the trivia question was poorly worded and needs a clue so here goes:
There were 3 HOFers who at one time pitched, but for a season they found themselves on the same team as players, and in that season, none pitched a single inning. Name the team, year, and players. Clue: These 3 Hall of Fame players are all in the T3 set. |
When you say they were pitchers, were they actually pitchers? Or they were position players who pitched a game here or there? For example, in 1902 Honus Wagner pitched in relief after the starter gave up 10 runs.

Nobody is going to get this without looking it up IMO. I mean if Johnny Evers or Roger Bresnzhan or Sam Crawford had pitched an inning, for example, who would know?

I just started with Eddie Collins, no pitching record according to Baseball Reference?

Simmons, Wheat and Foxx on that team too. And of course Grove. Sheesh.

Suppose there existed video of some of these guys on the mound. Who would be most interesting to see pitch? My list: 1. Foxx 2. Wagner 3. Cobb 4. Speaker |
Wheat had almost 2900 hits LOL.
