A Beautiful 1.5 T206 Red Cobb

So as not to clutter up the other Red Cobb poster thread with this talk any longer, here is the Cobby again. The tiny surface wrinkles on either side of his head look the same in person.
The story on this one is...
It was on ebay listed for about $2350.... I had offered the guy 2100 as a BIN. He said ok. He put it up and almost immediately, within seconds, I went to buy it and someone else had hit the BIN from under me. When the seller told the buyer he had already made a deal the buyer said tough luck. I bought it and it's mine. The seller said sorry and he had to sell to the other guy BUT the other guy seemed quirky so if anything happened he would let me know. The next morning the seller told me the guy didn't pay and I could have it. So I bought it but not without some drama :)

A definite overpay Leon - I'll begrudgingly take it off your hands at a small loss.

It was bought in July of 2019 so not really a steal then, but still a good deal for what it is.

So nice for the grade!

I never grow tired of seeing this card Leon.

It was meant to be!

That’s a beauty Leon, seems like a low grade!

Great card Leon,
I was fortunate to be able to pick this one up from a member and feel the same way, I'll take a great image with fun backstamp all day long.

I got this one somehow for $375 on Ebay 6 years ago.
Small paper loss on back.

Citadel backstamp, Phil, or perhaps Corps of Engineers? That is way cool!

Thanks Jim,
I think the stamp may have origins in the Moorish Revival Period of the 1920's but that's just a guess. Andy Huntoon has 4 more examples of this stamp on his T206 Backstamp project website. https://thegreatt206backstampproject...om/castles.php

If you've never checked out his site take a minute, its a pretty amazing collection of stamps.

Very nice card. Sometimes the deals are tough, but still a few good ones to be had if you're patient. Enjoy!

Thanks Tony.....(and others)

and thanks for this one too, Tony. Another card that looks way better than the grade.

I'm proud to have contributed to the Leon Luckey Collection :)

Those are very nice. And such full borders. Hmm...

Mine isn't as pretty but I am embarrassed to say what it cost:

Got it years ago raw.

I checked out that site, Phil, and you are right, truly amazing!

Now I could kick myself. Back in June, I was looking at a selection of poor condition loose/raw t205s on eBay, all via the same seller. Several were backstamped with a name and and an actual address from long, long ago! Looking on eBay just now, they are all gone.

Good for you leon!!
