The first person with the correct answer will be rewarded with a T206 card. TED Z T206 Reference . |
Jimmy Williams
My first guess was Jimmy Williams but he didn't have 2 homers in the August game where he did have 6 hits. I now have figured out where I should be looking.

Gavvy Cravath, one of Cantillon's boys.

Could it be?
George Davis
|
Home Run Baker?
|
Blind guess here, but is it Cy Seymour?

My guess is we are looking for a SL T206 player
Tough one Ted. My guess is we are looking for a SL T206 player. I learned that they should actually be called Southern Association players.
MLB stats are readily available and no MLB player touches all the bases. Dutch Jordan fits the 15-year career in Professional Baseball. Patrick |

This is getting interesting.
However, this mystery player is not Dutch Jordon or Schulte. TED Z T206 Reference . |
Danny Murphy?

Hal Chase? He's fresh in my mind since I recently finished the biography written by Martin Kohout (thanks to this forum for the recommendation!)
EDIT: Never mind. I missed the "was not a star player" clue. |
Was this feat done in a single game or a double header?
Ted,
Was this feat done in a single game or a double header? I'm guessing a double header! Patrick |

Patrick, you are getting warm. Your guess is correct. However the 2nd game was only 6 innings, as it got to dark to continue. TED Z T206 Reference . |

Frank Delehanty in 1906?

With 'day' instead of 'game', any searches could reflect that the 6 hits, the 4 runs and the 2 homers could all be spread out over a double-header...or, for that matter, a double-header following the completion of a suspended game or a mixture of all.
UNCLE! . |
I Call UNCLE ALSO
The closest I came to that is Shohei Ohtani or Dave "King Kong" Kingman |

We have a WINNER ! The "Trivia King" is Bill King naming Frank Delehanty. In the title I alluded to.... "a magic day in Aug", which was the key to the answer. August 31st appears to be a great day for hitting Home Runs in New York City. Delahanty had a great day in New York on Aug 31st 1906 playing for the Highlanders. Read all about it.... https://www.beabetterhitter.com/hist...ank-delahanty/ . http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...ntyABCDx50.jpg . .http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...tyABCDx50b.jpg https://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan...toiP350x75.jpghttps://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan...oiP350x75b.jpg TED Z T206 Reference . |

Thanks for such a fun trivia question, Ted. This sent me down all sorts of incorrect paths - Heinie Wagner once hit two home runs in a game in August; did "magic August day" mean a no-hitter or something like that; was this a minor league game? The extra clues of the not-unknown name and the six inning doubleheader gave me just enough information to eventually find it, after spending a frankly embarrassing (and quite enjoyable) amount of time perusing old box scores. Thanks for the fun!

...and another detail I missed: I thought the date was specifically the date of the thread - August 18 - but 'this' was in reference to the T206 guy, not the date.
Ted- I will more closely follow the details in the future. It was fun and enlightening, if frustrating. Thanks . |
Great question Ted.
I might need your cooperation in explaining to my wife, "what the heck" I was doing up on my phone at 1 o'clock in the morning...lol |
