Recurring Print Defect - 1969 Topps 585 Ron Swoboda
 

Picked up a large lot of 69 Topps this weekend (going for my 5th set, obsessed with 69s...) and I noticed a weird streak through the top of #585 Ron Swoboda's card, running through his face. Didn't think much of it...then I had a second Swoboda card...SAME streak. I know this lot of 200 or so cards came from a collector that opened these from packs, so these two cards were most likely from the same wax box...

I went on to Ebay and there are 38 1969 Ron Swoboda's...TWO of them have the same streak...(one is an autographed card). So clearly there is a recurring print defect...probably not super rare but I think it's pretty cool. Was happy to see at least one on Ebay.

Is this a known print defect card? Am I late to this party, and now lucky to have found a couple? Seems a sizable defect...

Went to the "SOLD" listings of the card...41 more examples listed, none have the streak...

Well...I bought the autographed one cause why not...:)

Looked through COMC and found only one of all the Swoboda's they have listed (on ebay anyhow)...I'd buy that too but don't want to wait 6 months...:D

Edit to add - both the COMC and the other raw example I originally saw are both gone...I'm assuming G1911 got one, hope another net54er got the other...now there are none on Ebay...

Guilty, I bought the COMC one @ $3.75 for my lazy master (all genuine variations + recurring defects like this, not doing the white vs. cream stock though).
