Authentic T205 Cy Young?

Hello all:

I picked up this T205 Cy Young off of eBay thinking that it looked good enough to me, but would love another set of eyes. I am not a long time collector, but have a few T205s to compare to and have a pretty good feel.

However, there was one aspect of this card that causes me concern.

Here is a link to an album of images, that includes a short video at the end. https://photos.app.goo.gl/4N27T2C2d9aXHNGd9

In the video you can see that portions of the border "shine" under a light, in a way that I haven't seen before. I have looked at it over and over and think it must be some sort of foreign material that reflects differently (it does not light up under UV), but I can't figure it out and it is not obviously visible.

Other aspects of the card seem fine for verifying authenticity: Print pattern seems good; borders, though worn/tarnished, look ok; PB back shows PB-style staning; chipping and creases look consistent with authentic copies; Background is a "speckled" red and not solid, but a quick search of the PSA registry shows a number of similar backgrounds that have been graded.

All in all, I think I'm good, but would love a 2nd opinion just in case while I'm still in the 3-day return window!

100% Authentic

Good to go. Here's my Polar Bear example for comparison:

Thanks! Also a "speckled" red background. Much appreciated

The card itself looks authentic to me.

I agree that the shiny areas look like some sort of foreign material. I have a T205 somewhere that has a similar bit of shiny on a couple of the gold-ink baselines. I suspect that in my case the card, before I obtained it, had been in an older plastic sheet or pocket and some material transferred to the card, maybe due to heat and/or pressure.

Nice card! I was watching it and thought the same as you. I felt confident with the typical tabacco staining that's common on Polar Bears that it was real, but the seller's zero feedback rating gave me serious pause. Good luck if you get it slabbed.

Might be good but my first thought was that the lithography, especially the red on the front, looks off/washed out. Otherwise, I agree that the staining and such looks good.

I was an underbidder on this one. I thought it looked good, and also thought it might be altered because of the washed out front.
