Rummaging through a box of photos that were in a large collection I bought a few years ago and found these gems. Has anyone seen these photos before? Photographer? I was thinking Mel Bailey or may be Doug McWilliams.

I have no idea, but they're great photos. Just fantastic!

Congrats & thanks for sharing! |
Wow! Those are great! Congrats.

I love 'em! There's some real star power in those snapshots. I recognize most of the guys. Is that Vada Pinson talking to Mays and Rose? I can't tell who the guy on the Expos is ... Mack Jones, maybe? If you decide to sell or trade any of them, I'd be interested.

I found a few additional images from the 1970 MLK Day game at Dodger Stadium. I had never know about this game until I found these photos and started researching. The game was played on March 28, 1970 and promoted as the the East-West Major League Baseball Classic. Joe D was the manager for the East (with Satchel Paige as an assistant) and Campy was manager for the West.
SI's Tom Verducci wrote a nice article, "The Greatest (Forgotten) Game Ever Played: MLB's 1970 Exhibition to Honor MLK" https://www.si.com/mlb/2021/01/18/ma...l-hall-of-fame The Baseball HOF has a copy of the game program on line at: https://collection.baseballhall.org/...age/1/mode/1up By the way, 1960 Olympic Decathlon Gold Medalist Rafer Johnson is pictured interviewing Frank Robinson. |
