Would be a cool piece of history to own. It will probably go for over $75k A voucher went for $66k on heritage last Feb 2020 and the prices have gone nuts since |
That's cool. What a signature with great provenance.

This was in my possession from the time I purchased it from the Joe Jackson auction in the late 1990s until I sold it via Jim Stinson in 2017. I had to get a PSA LOA for the deal to go thru, and this is the PSA slab I received.
It's good to see it again !!! |
That’s amazing! Baseball-reference gives his birthday as 1887 but he’s written it in as 1888. Which is correct do you think?

According to his U.S. World War I Draft Registration Card from 1917-1918 it was 1887. I have found that birth years were often listed differently for people born in the late 1800s. When I was working on my family history I would find different birth years on different forms, etc.

Wow. Hard to believe that was a form of identification once.

1887 or 1888 still an amazing player |
If this is his draft card for the first WWI draft, it was held June 5, 1917 and was for all men between the ages of 21 and 31. Maybe he made himself one year older for this entry hoping that he would be able to age out if the army went back to the same age pool at least 13 months later?

After the fact a year or so after that auction I was part of class action lawsuit against that AH for excessive shipping & handling and insurance fees. I received a very good settlement on that as well. |
