WTB: 1954 Hank Aaron…
Hi all,
I’m testing the waters to see what might be out there, my feeling is that there won’t be much but here goes. I’m looking for a super low grade example of Hank Aaron’s 1954 rookie card. My Grandpa is visiting for my birthday, as he does every year and I was reminded about his fondness for Hank when he himself was a kid. I thought it would be pretty neat to track down this card as it has always been on my “list” but I also am approaching it with a realistic mindset in that it might not be doable. It never hurts to try though! My budget is $700 right now, so if anyone has anything, feel free to comment here or send a PM! Thanks so much, Jake |
Yea....afraid you missed the boat on that one. Even falling apart, the card commands AT LEAST $1,200-$1,500.

Consider a nice 55
Which can be easily had within your budget. Likely you'll enjoy looking at it more than a rookie that you could possibly buy for the same $700!

100 % with Howard on the Topps or Bowman "55". Was the 1`st option I also thought of when you mentioned 700.00 budget. For 700.00 you can get a very nice looking "55' that you`re both sure to enjoy, good luck.

Another nice option in that price range would be a signed card from the 50s. There's a '58 Topps (back references his '57 league MVP award) for 799 OBO:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Hank-Aaron-...-127632-2357-0 Otherwise, consider buying the least expensive you can find today, since raw/ungraded versions were selling for no less than 1K before his passing and low graded ones have trended up to 2K. It's the best card of the best player in the '54 Topps set (no Mick) so it will always be the pinical and be the highest in value compared to other HOFers in the set (Mays, Jackie, Clemente, Williams, etc.). Lastly, when Bonds is denied the HOF for the final time, it will effectively nullify his 'HR record/title', thus put Hank back on top as the true HR king, whom achieved it naturally to dethrone the Babe. |
