Any idea what this Mantle is?

It’s a blank back mantle. No idea where it’s from.

I don't have a definitive answer, but it looks as if it was cut off a periodical while Mickey was playing, involving along the lines of Sports Stars of ... , Baseball Stars of ... , Smith's Baseball Guide, etc.
Being blank-backed, many of those yearly, monthly, All-Star Game, or World Series themed mags would have a thick paper or thin cardboard cover. Long ago, somebody liked the picture of Mickey enough to cut out their own card to satisfy a desire for another Mantle "card". I honestly cannot imagine it would have much value, but it's certainly a nice mid-career image of The Commerce Comet. Enjoy it as a souvenir. --- Brian Powell |
I did some research as well came up null and void. I hope you find your answer. Very nice.

If it's cardboard I would guess it's cut off of packaging from a Mantle endorsed product.

Impressed.

As a lifelong Wiffle Ball hound, it annoys me they misused the brand name of that sweet, plastic product. It is actually a Zipee Baseball, whatever the heck that is.

Congrats
Congrats to Randy on some fantastic detective work on this case!!!!

Sorry, I'm late to the thread. The top of a plastic bag with the product is enclosed on either side with a cardboard header. So whoever cut that one out may have also cut the other side or kept it whole.
And, there is also another package with basically the same header with a different color. My yellow header has a plastic bag with one ball. I think the blue header came with a bag that contained three balls. |
Cool stuff, guys!

I learned something new today. I thought a Transogram was when Bruce Jenner showed up at your door singing a message.
